Experimental Project “Participatory Education Model: Cooperation between Civil Society and the Municipality” at the municipal vocational education institution “Kyiv Professional Technological College”

The Challenge

One of the key challenges in vocational education remains insufficient interaction between education institutions and employers. Due to economic and physical constraints, businesses are not always able to provide students with high-quality workplace-based practical training, while cooperation between business, education institutions and other stakeholders often lacks an integrated and systematic approach. Another challenge is the lack of proper analysis and forecasting of labour market needs, which makes it difficult for businesses to anticipate their own demand for qualified personnel and for education institutions to adapt training programmes in a timely manner to the real needs of the economy.

The research and experimental work is aimed at developing and implementing a participatory education model at Kyiv Professional Technological College. Within the experiment, the project will combine the renewal of training materials with organizational changes aimed at creating an environment for the professional growth of both providers and recipients of educational services.

The model is expected to contribute to the development of students’ professional competence, strengthen the economic and material and technical capacity of the institution, support the implementation of modern training materials, and expand opportunities for workplace-based practical training.

Within the project, the concepts of “participatory education” and “professional competence” will be substantiated, best practices in implementing public-private partnership in vocational education institutions will be analysed, the participatory education model will be developed and tested, and indicators of its effectiveness will be defined.

The research and experimental work will result in the development and dissemination of methodological recommendations on the practical application of the participatory education model among vocational education institutions.
